You can use it to cut down long videos, or to edit out bits you don't want, and it can also do this losslessly if you're careful.

Firstly, launch the program and add a video to it, you can do this either by using the File / Open menu, or by dragging a video onto it from file explorer. You can use the timeline control below the video (highlighed in the image) to scrub through it to find any areas you don't want to include, like below:

Once you've found the bit you don't like, it's important to move to a keyframe. It's not important to know what a keyframe is, but unless you select one at each end of the edit, you won't be able to save the video without re-encoding it, which will reduce the quality.

Using the previous / next keyframe buttons (you can also use the up and down arrows on your keyboard) as shown below in yellow, find the start point in the video you'd like to remove. Once you're happy, click the set start marker button, highlighted in green on the left.

Now move through the video to find where you'd like to end the cut. Again use the previous / next keyframe buttons to find an appropriate keyframe then click the set end marker button, highlighted in green in the previous image, on the right.

You'll then end up with a section of the video marked. To remove it you can simply press the delete key, or use the Edit / Delete menu. As long as both ends of the cut were on a keyframe, you can save. One thing to be aware of is the Video Decoder settings, for the best results you want the video and audio outputs to be set to copy, and the Output format to match that of the input file. Since I imported an MP4 video, I've changed the output format to use the MP4 muxer while keeping the video and audio decoders set to copy, as shown below.

Once you're happy with the edit, you can hit the save button on the toolbar, or use the File / Save menu to save the video. As a registered member, you have six upload slots for videos, so impress us! You're much more likely to gain membership with good videos that impress us instead of a short video of a woman who sits around naked all day! 

Things that will impress us: 
  • Old school videos (before 2010). We love vintage caps, we have caps from Paltalk from the early 2000s, and some caps from other programs dating back to the mid 1990s! If you're a new capper don't let that put you off, though!
  • Camfrog videos are welcome, but please only post new videos (captured in the last year or so), there are lots of Camfrog caps out there already and we'll know if it's one of those, post something new and fresh!
  • Videos of women who very rare show anything. If that hot woman who always wears six layers of clothing got drunk one night and flashed, and you got a cap of it, that'll really go a long way!
  • Videos that get to the action fast. If your 30 minute long video has boobs for five seconds at the 20 minute mark, edit it down to show us the boobs! If we have to slog though hours of footage to find a quick flash, you're not going to win friends here.
Things that will not impress us:
  • Capping only to gain membership, if you only post a couple of vids that you capped recently just so you can get in and see the thousands of videos we have, we will notice. And that won't get you very far.

Don't try to join by posting videos you've grabbed from other sites, we can spot these.

If you think you'd like to join, but don't have any videos, the information forum has a growing series of posts that will guide you on how to capture videos yourself.

To maintain your membership we expect you to keep contributing to the site: I don't mean you need to be posting a new video every day, or even few days, but do remain as an active member of the forum as that's more fun for everyone.

Of course, we do have rules that you are expected to follow, but they aren't too onerous.

Once installed and running, you'll see a screen like this:

From there, if you want to record a video of a window, go to Capture, Screen Recording:

You can then move your mouse over the window you wish to record, and it'll be highlighted with a 'walking ants' box. For Paltalk, it can detect the inner video window of either an attached cam like below, or a free-floating larger video window. If you want to capture more than one video, you'll need to click and drag to choose a bigger selection. You can't, unfortunately, record more than one video at a time, so make the windows you want to record be next to each other otherwise there'll be lots of extra rubbish captured.

Once the video is recording, there isn't the ability to pause it, which is a bit inconvenient, clicking Stop stops the recording and saves the file as an MP4 video, aborting doesn't save anything. The file will be named with the date and time for convenience.

Advanced Rapid Capturing

While there isn't a pause option, you can create a hotkey that will allow you to rapidly restart recording of the last region. This allows you to stop a video, say when the subject walks off or their cam drops, and rapidly start it again once they come back or restart.

Do to this, in the main ShareX window, click on 'Hotkey settings...', then click on 'Add...'. Click the dropdown that says 'Task: None' and change it to 'Start screen recording using last region' as shown below:

You can then close that window and add a shortcut key combination to allow you to start the video again. Personally I use Ctrl + Alt + Scroll Lock as it won't interfere with anything else (mostly likely). Pressing this combination will both start, and stop a recording.]]>
